MALIHA HASSAN

Friendship

Richest is the person who has lot of friends,

In thick or thin the friendship never ends.

He never proves to be a fair-weather friend,

Never have to repent, never to make amends.

A person proving to be a real confidant,

Never rebukes, nor inclined to reprimand.

With your secret plans in him you confide,

Never betrays, he’s always by your side.

Your intentions or plans, no need to hide,

A shoulder sincere, offered on it to be cried.

Has fear of God, knows importance of love,

No matter how hard many a times you shove.

Thank you for making me smile in times odd,

Such friend is really sent on earth by God.

Thank you, my friend, for ever being there,

When I failed to trust a single soul here.

A Fair-Weather Friend

When the seat you bear comes to an end,

Best friend turns into a fair-weather friend.

The goodness, companionship slyly how,

Manoeuvred to appear a sincerity show.

He was just the follower of the rising sun,

To gain favours, hence, in his plans he won.

He was an opportunist, I am sorry to say,

While the sun shines intended to make hay.

Now realized, he had only an axe to grind,

Personal gains had he, throughout in his mind.

Declined to recognize in the command new,

Let him learn a lesson that is his due.

A helping hand thus declined to extend,

It dawned on me, you are no longer a friend.

Too late the reality revealed, I now know,

All help, sincerity came down with a blow.

Being loyal and sincere was a wishful view,

Friend at work differ from a friend true.

This bitter fact came to me in life so late,

Even the thought of it, I would love to hate.

Lord! Conceal the intentions of my friend,

Don`t expose him to the society till the end.

In my eyes let him apparently be true,

He had been essential part of my crew.

My friend who I had always kept so dear,

His falling low in the pit, I cannot bear.
