A Drifting One
I am a drifting
one,
flying through
the sky,
a spirit,
invisible to the naked eye.
The lone tank
man,
the one who
stood in courage,
blocking tanks
in Tiananmen Square,
full of courage
and strength.
This drifting
one held his hand,
giving
unconditional support.
On that fateful
bus of change
in the city of
Montgomery,
one lady of
colour
not moving, full
of strength and belief.
This drifting
one was there
providing a
hand.
In Peru, when
the plane crashed,
a brave seventeen-year-old
walked out of
the Amazon
swollen,
infected but alive.
This drifting
one guided her downstream
to the opening
of civilization.
I am the
drifting one,
flying through
the air of history,
a spirit,
invisible to the naked eye.

Pied Pipers Are Singing
Pied Pipers are
singing
their choruses
of chaos and destruction
that their
misguided followers will follow.
The conductor of
warfare
waves the
lightning rod
that they people
will follow
like blind,
little zombies.
The people were
already searching
for the kerosene
to ignite
their passion
and rage.
Anger is the
scariest animal,
waiting for cues
from the rest
of the prowling
herd.
Pied Pipers are
signing
their song of
chaos and destruction
knowing the
animals will follow
and destroy for
them.

The Miles
So many miles on
the weathered body.
Looking out to
the sky
I think to
myself
regret is one of
the emotions
that this body
does not feel.
Sometimes I feel
tired
in these aching
bones
and burning
muscles
however, I push
for many more
miles.
The miles have
given so much.
The magical
scenes of life
being brought
for the experience.
At times,
looking out,
do not feel my
age
though I know
there are more
miles behind me
than in front of
me.
The job now is
to take in
whatever miles
are left.
