Love Comes Back To Bloom

 

Winter is dark cocoon

of my soul.

In it lurks

your long silences.

Here, without end, they echo

in a painful rhythm.

But, in the deepest darkness,

penetrates a ray of rambling light.

Then, on the deafening notes of silence, life dances again.

So, in the mildest season,

like the cherry tree,

also returns to bloom

my love for you.

L'AMORE TORNA A FIORIRE.

 

L'inverno è un bozzolo oscuro

della mia anima.

In esso si annidano

i tuoi lunghi silenzi.

Qui, senza fine, riecheggiano

in un ritmo doloroso.

Ma, nell'oscurità più profonda,

penetra un raggio di luce vagante.

Allora, sulle note assordanti del silenzio, la vita danza di nuovo.

Così, nella stagione più mite,

come il ciliegio,

torna a fiorire

anche il mio amore per te.

My love for you

 

Like the bitter orange tree

I blossom, every time,

without hope,

while the wind carries away

the last shred of my heart.

 

So, at the dawn

of a new day,

autumn has changed,

and along with the foliage

so has my love for you.

 

All that remains is the memory

of a time gone by,

of a bitter orange tree

that now bends in the wind

and of a love now forgotten.

IL MIO AMORE PER TE.

 

Come l'albero di arancio amaro

io fiorisco, ogni volta,

senza speranza,

mentre il vento porta via

l'ultimo brandello del mio cuore.

 

Così, all'alba

di un nuovo giorno,

l'autunno è cambiato,

e insieme al fogliame

è mutato anche il mio amore per te.

 

Tutto ciò che rimane è il ricordo  di un tempo passato,

di un albero di arance amare

che ora si piega al vento

e di un amore ormai dimenticato.

CONCETTA LA PLACA: Concetta La Placa is an Italian poet, writer and aphorist. Born in Sicily, she has lived in Rome since 2006. She is married, mother of two children and grandmother of three grandchildren. She has worked as a ministerial official in the Social Policies sector (Childhood and Adolescence and the Fight against Poverty) of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. As of 1 April 2024, she took early retirement. She started writing and composing poetry at the age of 15. Today, she is present on the international poetry scene because she has published her poems and various short stories (some of which are also dedicated to children) in numerous prestigious anthologies of various national and international contemporary authors.
