The Split Self

 

The hardest battle we fight

Between what we know and what we do not know.

A resultant voice is learnt from scars,

And another from the scripture.

 

The heart keeps beating, matching the clocks

One counting the knocks with no warning,

And the other waiting for the moon to return.

 

Nevertheless

We keep gazing to understand beyond sleep.

The silent compromise

Enhances the grief

That crashes through the lungs,

Yet hopes accumulate

Beyond the limit of the sky,

Generating interest towards life.

 

The sea of anxiety motivates in sequences

For an infinite growth.

 

Beyond Remembrance...

 

Does love leave our body with the soul? 

Or does it stay behind the curves of a relationship 

Either in the letters of an unsent letter, 

Or in the arranged cups 

On a dining table? 

 

Above all, 

If the soul is an oceanic tide, 

Maybe love is the infinite stretch of 

 

Sand particles on the shore, 

That infuses life into it in a state of pride. 

 

Does love ever change its raised dais 

From breath to blood, from bone to the rarest masculinity? 

 

Nevertheless, 

It holds the unshrunk eyes 

To project a vision as wide as the sky 

And makes one an uncommon visionary. 

 

If love leaves the body 

And the soul becomes untraceable, 

The mind imbalances and escapes stoppage of heartbeats. 

Yet it questions the night 

As to why it still remembers the moon 

Long after the clouds have overpowered it? 

Or scans the push of a tide that died carefree over a vertex 

 

To ascertain 

If at all something never departs 

Beyond remembrance.
