Homeland In The Heart

 

It is not only the land where I was born,

nor the mountains that touch the clouds;

the homeland lives in every memory

that awakens an old longing within me.

 

It is the voice of my mother at dawn,

the song that arrives from afar,

the smile of ordinary people

who carry sunlight in their eyes.

 

Even when roads lead me far away,

beyond seas and distant borders,

a piece of sky follows my steps

like an invisible flag.

 

For a homeland is not measured by miles,

nor by the maps of a vast world;

it beats alive within the heart

like a song that never fades.

 

Trace Of Light

 

In the silence of evening, I walked slowly,

like a shadow searching for its name,

and the stars spoke to me in a distant language

that only the heart can understand.

 

The roads were filled with memories,

like autumn leaves upon wet stones,

while the wind carried the fragrance of time

from days that will never return.

 

Yet within me a light was burning,

small, gentle, and unbreakable,

like a flame that challenges the darkness

even when the night seems endless.

 

And I understood that hope never dies;

it sleeps in the depth of the soul,

waiting for a single moment

to rise again toward the sky.

XHULI SPAHIU: She is a Kosovar Albanian poet, writer, and cultural activist, born on November 4, 1969, in Breznicë, Bujanoc, and currently based in Gjilan. She belongs to the contemporary generation of writers who cultivate poetry with a humanistic, reflective, and motivational character. Her literary work addresses universal themes such as life, love, peace, human values, and spiritual development. Through a simple language and a direct expressive style, her poetry aims to convey optimism and encourage reflection among readers. She is the author of several motivational and essayistic publications, which have been read and circulated among readers beyond the Albanian-speaking world, giving her work a broader international reception.
