SCOTT THOMAS OUTLAR

Delaying The Inevitable

the extended forecast

has bolted with new purpose

you miss your shot

to devour

then nature starts seeding again

say something meaningful on the spot

or never utter another word

uh, well, uhm, ahem, yeah,

hallelujah

let us rejoice

third person, editor at large

release the bounty

seven digits wide

I’m going to play this game

with fire and flood

for one more spin

Repetitive Motions

I saw a god

tied to your kite

painted with wings

softened by storm

whispering echoed prayers

back down in bolts

loosely tethered by each

harsh emotion bound too tightly

and sent up to the heavens when

there’s no further depth to travel

I’ve been clinging to sanity

gripping the guardrails

with white knuckles

churning up the same experiences

one day into the next

and the only differences that emerge

are the words in

meaning, flow, and sequence
