SZENTE B. LEVENTE

SZENTE B. LEVENTE

Xxx
 (halkul)

The moans become faint
More and more faint
you know the silence
of the streets well
and are not in the mood
to tell any more
nylon and paper
are thew same in the wind
the garbage heaped
like real mountains
in your soul
you feel
a tower of everything
wich is disturbing you
and giving you pains

SEER
(látó)

on a certain day
my eyes open and
I’ll see
I’ll wink only and stand up
and I’ll go
with you
to our home

TRANSLATED BY ISTVAN DABI

ALONE BEHIND THE WINDOW

From the crest of the church
doves are flying
and sparrows ?
          none of them
for what is this good?

Already the mist is lifting
behind the gardens
all along on the frozen twigs
of the bushes
fleeing alone
amidst the houses
do you understand this?

You stood by the window
in weak light
looking at the street
whether he is coming – whom
did you wait for
you thought only over it
