GEORGIANA LAURA GHEORGHE
Oh, Intrepid
Spirit,
You’re more than
the common knight
That we read
about in history books and fairy tales.
You’re the
explorer that dares to go into the unknown,
The man that does
the impossible despite the others’ envy
And the obstacles
set to stop you from reaching the destination.
Oh, intrepid
spirit, you prefer to get up
And soar into the
sky when you fell down
Instead of
pitying yourself like a coward,
Admitting defeat
to your enemies’ delight.

What Am I Going
To Write About?
The lake god got
his hand out of his watery home.
Holding the
magical ballpoint pen, he asks himself,
“What am I going
to write about?”
The forest’s complaint
about men’s destructive nature,
The patch of
clear sky in the storm
That is a sign of
hope to humanity,
Or that some
waters are in fact the ancestors’ tears.
As the god
ponders on the matter,
A beautiful voice
sounds from the surface
And a maiden
comes by the lake.
He stares at her
like he was in a trance.
Her kind eyes
mesmerized him,
Her voice
gladdened his heart,
He wanted her so
badly that he came closer.
She lets out a
scream and runs fast into the forest.
“What went wrong?
I’m not that scary,”
he said.
It took him
seconds to realize
That it wasn’t
him that scared her.
It was his hand
that did it.
He forgot to rise
to the surface as a whole.
Teary-eyed he sat
on the desk made of stones
And wrote about
the blunder that chased his love away.

A Weather Poem
The thunderstorm
broke during nighttime,
But it didn’t
wake me up from my sleep.
I was admiring
the sunrise in the land of dreams.
The hardworking honeybee
pollinating a lone bellflower
Reminded me about
the responsibilities I have in life.
Even under the
watchful eye of the evergreen,
I bravely walked
on the long path.
Delighting my
taste buds with blueberries,
And admiring the
view are the best ways to spend the afternoon.
Reaching the
beautiful lake, I realized,
How time flies
when you’re having fun!
“Even if night
falls,
Never forget that
tomorrow is a new day,”
The fiery bird
whispered in my ear
Before going down
below the other side of the lakeside.
Another voice
suddenly woke me from the sweet sleep.
While having
breakfast,
My father told me
that the weather forecast
Turned out to be
true,
Our county had
the heaviest rainfall last night.
Tears ran down my
cheeks,
Thinking about
how much suffering
The aftereffect
of this natural disaster
Had brought to
everyone.
The rainbow,
however, was a sign of a new beginning
Just like the
bird told me in my dream.
