My Love For You

Like the bitter orange 

I bloom, every time,

without hope, 

while the wind carries away 

the last shred of my heart.

So, at the dawn 

of the new day, 

autumn has transformed, 

along with the foliage 

also, my love for you. 

Only the memory remains 

of a time gone, 

of a bitter orange tree 

which today bends in the wind

and of a forgotten love.

The Memory Of Us

I remember, love, that's what I called you, when that day 

you came from far away. 

Your arrival was like a ray of light, illuminating my life

 and the world around.

I saw you suddenly arrive there

 in that great Square, 

walking towards me, proudly.

Wonderful was that embrace 

that enveloped us and transformed us 

into one happiness. 

They were moments of eternity. 

 You and me, enveloped by a wave 

of love. 

Today, even though you are no longer with me,

I close my eyes and hear the roar 

of our love, which will never fade.

This Stillness Around Me

This stillness around me

fills me 

with your bitter silence 

full of incoherent contradictions 

This silence resounds 

with its echo in my heart 

and seems to silence

the rhythm of my vital beats.

This apparent calm

conceals only a war 

underground,

with no armistice between us. 

It is a tranquility 

that surrounds us and arises only

from the escape from love 

that sometimes leads consumes you.

It is an evident emptiness

that leaves, around me, 

beyond our silence,

also, my despondency.

I wonder if it will return, between us, 

the noise and the power 

of our love

and of our ancient passion.

CONCETTA LA PLACA

CONCETTA LA PLACA: Country: Rome, Italy. Concetta La Placa is an Italian poet, writer and aphorist. Born in Sicily, she has lived in Rome since 2006. She is married, mother of two children and grandmother of three grandchildren. She has worked as a ministerial official in the Social Policies sector (Childhood and Adolescence and the Fight against Poverty) of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. As of 1 April 2024, she took early retirement. She started writing and composing poetry at the age of 15.
