Fate

 

A word

can't stop the time.

A fleeting moment

has a chance

for an apparent stop.

It exists

between morality and its absence,

between good and evil,

between me and us.

As long as it is

we are.

 

Life is enveloped in

an ordinary – extraordinary relationship.

It cannot happen

it just is.

 

Unexpected situations

sometimes

happen

to people

and everyone else.

 

For example, what, Grandpa?

 

A war, an accident...

 

I regret one thing -

you can never buy a ticket

to escape your destiny.

Przeznaczenie

 

Słowem

nie można zatrzymać czasu.

Ulotny moment

ma szansę

na pozorne zastopowanie.

On istnieje

pomiędzy moralnością i jej brakiem,

dobrem i złem,

mną a nami.

Póki jest

jesteśmy.

 

Życie otacza

zwykła – niezwykła relacja.

To nie może się przytrafić

jest.

 

Ludziom

i wszystkim innym

czasem

przydarzają się

niespodziewane sytuacje.

 

Na przykład jakie, dziadku?

 

Wojna, wypadek…

 

Żałuję jednego 

nigdy nie można kupić biletu,

by uciec od przeznaczenia.

To Abiy Ahmed Ali

Not the one read about,

but the truly lived

war drama

showed him what hell on Earth was.

He had been there.

He’d learnt the bitter taste of the times

when a brother killed his brother.

 

Luck, or perhaps destiny,

let him survive

and create a better tomorrow.

 

He knew,

that an imaginary wall

between two countries

must be replaced by a bridge of friendship.

 

Peace exists

when there is justice.

Down with hatred and discord

love, reconciliation, forgiveness

they build harmony.

Na przekór

 

Abiy’emu Ahmedowi Aliemu –

laureatowi Pokojowej Nagrody Nobla w 2019 r.

 

Nie ten przeczytany,

lecz prawdziwie przeżyty

wojenny dramat

pokazał mu, czym jest piekło na ziemi.

Był tam.

Poznał gorycz czasu,

w którym brat zabijał brata.

 

Szczęście, a może przeznaczenie,

pozwoliły mu przeżyć

i tworzyć lepsze jutro.

 

Wiedział,

że wyimaginowana ściana

pomiędzy dwoma krajami

musi być zastąpiona mostem przyjaźni.

 

Pokój istnieje,

kiedy jest sprawiedliwość.

Na przekór nienawiści i niezgodzie

 – miłość, pojednanie, przebaczanie

budują harmonię.
