SILVANA DIMITRIEVSKA

THE NAVEL OF THE WORLD

Tuesday. January 3, she wakes up naked as a peach seed,

Red-haired, fragrant... with her breath she cuts my admiration,

Like water flowers float around the room

Her morning theories

That it’s not the same that I avoid her stomach

Every time we make love.

How can I explain to her that while I kiss her

From her navel,

A million little flames

Are smiling at me, restlessly waiting for the moment of fire,

And I’m just helping them to be as big as possible

When they are born.

Water

Here it comes, with a black gaze

And the smell of darkness.

The darkness swallows me in its veins.

She is the drop of life that kissed the beginning.

She is the sound more powerful than silence.

I hear her gurgling through the roots of the house,

Connecting bone to bone, brick to brick,

Building and tearing down,

Flowing through the walls,

Washing the roofs when we need

A pure thought and a dream to dream.

She tells me: I have come, because you called me!

She is the handful of hope with which we knead

The bread of tomorrow.

She is the body that we immerse,

A stripped skin,

So that we may clothe ourselves in the Spirit

And stand naked before the mirror of the soul.

And I say: come, because I have called you!

Black woman, mother, lover, sister

Water that brings me back to the spring

From which I will not thirst.
