LINDA IMBLER

LINDA IMBLER

HEARTSTRINGS

What they have to say,
can be sung.
What they have to play,
can be strung.

Who are these prophets,
dreamers of the future?
Who are these historians,
sealing past and present’s suture?

Love, change, peace, chaos,
reflectors of each age.
Show these things
through the music on the page.

Regardless of the season,
guitars have no lament.
Sitting behind these hollow bodies
is time well spent.

Heartstrings manipulated,
for glory and good.
Sit and listen if you can,
and sing along if you would.

STAGGERED TRUTH

Once this, now that,
my uncertainty fed your fickle appetite.
I had to rattle your cage to shake out facts,
to see and hear the truth,
to pull from you, screaming,
what you did not want to give.

This or that, I sorted lies from truth,
seeking a sensible ingestion
to sate my own hunger.
Factuality is now apparent.
My benefit is constant and certain.
I’m letting the rattle and shake cease.

HOW GOES THE WORLD

Remember when actors
moved from the stage to the silver screen?
So now goes the way of wood and ink,
and in its place,
a new marquee of letters.
The world is changing.
