SCRIBBLING NOTES ON THE CREST OF A
WAVE
I want to write my way
to the gates of heaven
and have God say
what a good job I’ve done
but all these letters
and numbers
and words
and signs
can never bring salvation
it’s all a matter of time
I want to walk my way
to the edge of tomorrow
and have life say
what a good day we’ll have
when all these plants
and flowers
and fruits
and vines
offer of their nectar
it’s all a bleeding of mind
I want to work my way
to the height of transcendence
and have love say
what a good climb to take
as all these tests
and trials
and floods
and fires
lead up to the summit
it’s all a spreading of wings
GAGGING ON THE GLORY
When a storm arrives
and weeps its rain in wrath
from the heavens above,
I am shielded by love.
My soul protected by God,
my flesh by an umbrella,
my heart by eternal warmth
that burns steady at the source.
Nicotine from the day’s first
cigarette
opens blood vessels
and drives the nutrition
of a spirulina, wheat grass,
chlorella concoction
straight into hyped-up veins.
Pollution and poison
puked out in toxic plumes
through the machinations of madmen
all across the world
could never soil my spirit
when immunity hits its highest
note.
Let the devils choke
while the angels sing.
Let the demons meet their demise
while the children dance and
thrive.
Let the societies of secrets spoil
as the New Age rises to a boil.
Let the old guard fall dead in its
tracks
as the stars align and we never
look back.
Fierce is the flood
that focuses fury
with a righteous rage
to purge the past
and pave smooth paths
on a glorious day.
Wave bye-bye
to the ominous sky
that speaks with dark lies
as a fresh set of eyes
open to the sight
of a shifting cosmic light.
EXCLAMATIONS IN THE DARK
I will slide with you
through the silhouette of days
and we will bark
in the shade
at the shadow of trees
and we will feast
on golden crumbs
at the feet of kings
and we will suck
on cherry juice
at the top of mountains
and we will lust
in our longings
toward war and peace
and we will die
a thousand deaths
just to be reborn
and we will laugh
as we dance
through waves of chaos
and we will scream
with shredded lungs
to make our point
