CONCETTA LA PLACA

Summertime And Autumn In Town

Ours is a strange Madness of Love,

with encounter,

that never finds an end.

Love, infinite feeling that disturbs

ordinary thoughts and lies silent,

silent in the heart.

There was a beyond

that knew infinity,

only for a few hours.

It was harmony of tuned notes,

a desire that overwhelmed us

and left us forever inexhaustible.

Then the north wind swept every leaf away,

but never our love

that still is nestled in ours thoughts.

Ours Roots

We are what remains

of our parents.

We are their future,

their second rebirth,

We are their love

sprouted

and blossomed

into new life.

While, they will be

forever

our strong roots.

My Golden Age

The tenderest and most beautiful memories always return to me

the memory of my childhood,

the golden age of carefreeness

and magical dreams

with open eyes.

So many emotions bound,

like precious pearls, one to the other, by the thread of that tender age, when wonder dwelt in my innocent gaze, which softened even the hardest heart.

Now, in the silence of those empty courtyards, distant echoes of joyful voices and childish songs

rise in those now-abandoned spaces, where blossom

in solitude, between the scorching, sun-drenched walls, only red poppies bloom.

The memory becomes more and more vivid and my image as a child, with a sweet smile, recaptures those places of the past, while a tear of poignant emotion lines my cheek.

Today, there is no trace of similarity from that time.

Those were times of wholesomeness, of pure love.

Equality and equal opportunity still won out over rancour, selfishness and perfidy.
