The Great Soul

(Poem dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi)

 

The symbol of a world

Where peace lies within every human being.

His kindness had no boundaries,

With a heart of gold he imparted his wisdom

To a world governed by hatred and evil.

 

Love is the essence of life,

The healing effects of the prayer are felt

If it’s said from all of our heart,

Simplicity is an underappreciated treasure

By those that prefer to complicate matters,

Just like spirituality is the enemy of sinners.

 

These are some of the lessons

That the Great Soul taught mankind.

Let’s follow his advice and guide

The lost ones on the right path with our light!

The Solution

 

The heart suffers from hate,

Estrangement keeps people apart from each other,

Falsehood leads to wrong paths

And violence creates chaos.

 

Love heals the broken heart,

Friendship brushes the tears from our cheeks,

Teamwork brings us together,

Let’s all be the solution for bringing peace into the world!

Edelweiss

 

The most regal of all of Mother Nature’s daughters,

Guarded by the stone titans

And watched over by the brave falcons,

She smiles at the sun at daytime,

She talks to the stars and moon every night

Asking them about man’s fate.

White as snow, with fluffy petals like a teddy bear

And smooth as silk, what can it be?

A little star planted by an angel on earth?

A gift given to men by the Blessed Virgin Mary?

She’s a queen no matter what name she has.

GEORGIANA L. GHEORGHE: Born in a country with a wonderful history, customs, traditions and culture, she’s a sensitive soul whom considers writing as a way to express her untold feelings and opinions. She’s a translator, but creative writing is one of the many hobbies she has. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in the English Language and Literature – French Language and Literature – Philology at “Spiru Haret” University of Bucharest, Faculty of Letters – Bucharest (Romania) and a Master’s Degree in Translation and Interpretation at “Dunărea de Jos” University of Galaţi (Romania). She competed at a few national creative writing contests such as the “EMINESCIANA” National Poetry Writing Contest, 2020 and international literary championships such as the “European Poetry Championship”, Săcele, Brașov, 2020; the “Special Valentine’s Day Prize” Literary Contest of Love Poetry, Italy, 2020 etc. She was awarded the “Preservation of Traditions Award” on September 2020 at the CULTURE PANDEMIC creative writing contest with the theme: “Culture and Traditions” organized by the Writers’ League of Romania, Buzău office; “First Place” at the „Writters Assembled 2020 August Writing Competition”; „Second Prize” at the first edition of the „Romanian Talents” Interpretation and Creation Festival, at the POETRY section, 2020; the „Diploma of Excellence” at the first edition of the „Zbor spre desfrunzite stele” International Festival, Săcele, Brașov, 2020 etc. She published poetry in various national and international literary magazines and anthologies, and launched her first bilingual poetry book “What is life?” on September 2019. Other than creative writing, she likes to listen to music mostly classical, instrumental and soundtracks, travel and navigate on the Internet.
