Patina Of Sadness

 

Tonight, the sky is starry

but everything is dark around me

and you, by now, are galaxy

light years away from me.

 

I tried to stop this stellar war of sad stormy thoughts,

but a whirlwind sucked them

From my mind to my heart.

 

I feel a dull ache, an excruciating twinge.

I know well that you

are far away and live far away

in another dimension.

 

Your silence envelops me,

and, like a cloud

scattered in the universe,

I wander, forever

without a real destination.

 

Now, in your

new constellation,

without me,

you are my amputated part.

The Embrace

 

A certain restlessness

accompanies me

through the streets of the city.

They are those travelled

together with you.

It is a spasmodic and perennial

search for a part of us.

So, all of a sudden, I see

a mural of an embracing couple.

I return in my mind

to our impetuous embraces,

the only places and emotional spaces

in which you and I have always been comfortable.

These are emotional moments that,

each time, totally involve me.

They are my refuge

and my safe enclosure

of passion and feeling

that I love to remember,

to find again and again

us and our yearning love.

Around Me

 

Around me,

everything is luminous energy.

It is the attractive force

of an ancient feeling

which blends,

mingles

with the water of the sea.

And, as in its perennial powerful waves,

it caresses the infinite

and loses itself in the ray of love

that is born at every dawn, on the horizon.

CONCETTA LA PLACA: Country: Rome, Italy. Concetta La Placa is an Italian poet, writer and aphorist. Born in Sicily, she has lived in Rome since 2006. She is married, mother of two children and grandmother of three grandchildren. She has worked as a ministerial official in the Social Policies sector (Childhood and Adolescence and the Fight against Poverty) of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. As of 1 April 2024, she took early retirement. She started writing and composing poetry at the age of 15. Today, she is present on the international poetry scene because she has published her poems and various short stories (some of which are also dedicated to children) in numerous prestigious anthologies of various national and international contemporary authors. Personal Collections of Poems: 2018: 'Cosmic Love', a small collection of five poems presented unpublished at the 'VI International Prize City' Poetry Competition in Sarzana, receiving the Diploma of Merit.
