LUISA CAMERE QUIROZ

A Bulb Without Flowers

Who broke its petals

that couldn’t absorb

the crystal / its dew

agonizing without rain / without love

that couldn’t grow

free like a bee in honey

What did they do to my child?

His roots couldn’t

take hold of the earth

they didn’t let him grow

they broke his stems

soulless hands

he couldn’t walk / or see

I weep for all these stems

in buds without flowers

the cruel bombs and missiles

suffocated them with smoke

they fell, charred without life

I hear their cries / their sorrows

in their own buds

tainted without petals

torn apart one by one

without maternal embrace

Who could be so cruel?

Only lifeless bulbs remain

brittle / voiceless

Drowned

in their own tears

Oh! My God

such anguish

tears my heart apart

without blood / beats

nor dreams / shattered games

only bombs / war

sprouts without breath

They weren’t allowed to spread

their scents in the fields

Why so much hate / power / dehumanization?

Love, How Much I Love You!

When my eyes meet yours,

I feel my soul race

in an explosion of love,

tiny pieces of sky

sailing in the clouds

to other seas and oceans.

Oh! Magical moment,

two lighthouses merge

in a collision of tick-tocks,

magnets in the dizzying

spin of planets in orbit.

It's an attraction,

the gazes don't demand,

they aren’t sorrowful,

they believe / they are faithful,

they wait for the silent blink

of a second

to steal a kiss

under the crescent moon.

It's a connection,

a vibration / a clash of waves

that shakes your essence,

through your crystalline eyes,

like a bride's veils,

they shimmer restlessly

when they notice your intense gaze,

a raging sea,

in constant effervescence,

like a volcano in eruption.

It's a complicity,

a seductive moment.

Just by looking

your eyes told me everything,

without touching / without kissing

or merging

your body with mine.

You brought a change to my life,

to the orbit of your flight,

a distant circuit

of circles in a veil.

With just these words,

"Love, how much I love you!"

When my eyes meet yours...

Dance at The Carnival

Scent of salt / of rusted iron

gentle breeze / melodious whisper

wraps me in a tulle shawl

I surrender to its embrace

I quietly climb each path

that leads me

to its calm / its gentle sway

Impossible not to be seduced

the rhythm of its dance tunes me

they are celebrating / all are dancing /

all are shining

they shine under the reflection of the sunset

soft strokes of shades

lilacs / blues / torn

like a flashing lightning bolt

that briefly ignites

treading its masquerade dance

masks of fleeting glimmers

Suddenly everything blurs

they continue with their dance

a ballet en pointe

from "Swan Lake"

no more lines can be seen no more horizon

everything

is made perfect

in magnificent unity

no more lines or edges

no islands / no islets

only sky / ocean

in perfect symmetry / harmony

The Carnival transported me to its grandeur
