Up & up I go

 

Up and up I go clinging to my balloons

sailing above the cities,

sailing above the skyscrapers;

sailing between the cotton clouds;

through the misty path I sail

holding on to my bunch of balloons.

 

Those hoodlums down there;

I can hear them shouting;

I can hear them ridiculing me.

 

I will teach each one of them a lesson,

when I meet my mum who is up there;

waiting by the gates of heaven;

she will give me many red balloons

and then I will blow them up all

and show them to those hoodlums.

 

The wind on my face

and the balloons going up and up

I am so happy flying away

from the horrible crowd.

 

Life In Many Colors

 

Life and laughter

 

Life is one, with many colors

and make it always fun

keep your problems at bay

and enjoy your day.

 

Laughter is the best medicine they say

and I agree in every way

Laugh out loud

Laugh at the silly things you did

Laugh at silly jokes you read

Laugh at funny stories you have read

Laugh at one’s foolishness

 

Laugh and many will laugh with you

but cry and all will leave you.

Life’s bitter lesson I have learned

always be merry

leave your worries to the Lord

give it up to him

pray have faith

and God will help you

in your stride.

 

No use being sad

you will get more mad

problems will turn worse

just like a curse.

 

So, laugh and be merry

make another jealous

always be merry

always be happy

 

The happiest person she is

for she does not care

what is in the air

all that matters is that

life is one time given

So, make the best of it

enjoy every day as it comes.

 

Life is a laughter

and not a disaster

it is just how you make your life.

 

My life may have been a disaster

but I have an infectious laughter

that I carry everywhere I go

bringing happiness to each and every one I meet

 

Sunday Evening

 

It's a cool Sunday evening,

sitting by the sea

watching the evening light twinkle;

I see the ships set sail across the blue ocean

with the sails flying in the wind

the boats are ready to sail.

 

Many are laden with merchandise;

while a few with people,

sailing across the seas

carrying them to their destinations.

 

The shoreline has visitors

from all over the world,

this tiny island is lively

for it is the season of festivity;

and time for a trade.

DEBRA S MASCARENHAS: She is a self-taught artist, born in India but, having moved to the Gulf region and has been living in the UAE for three decades, this has become her first home now. Professionally she is an Office Manager. She discovered her inner talent for painting way back in 2019 and then having lost her job and with the breakout of Covid, she started to paint on small canvas boards and taught herself different types and ways to paint. She loves to paint abstract, but her favourite subject would be the sea and trees. She loves to play with bright colors and comes up with any painting in a few hours. Now, when you say passion then she is passionate about poetry writing, she has written about 6000+ poems in English. She has a book published; it is available on Amazon. Besides poems, she also has written a few short stories. Poetry writing comes to her naturally another God-given talent.
