An old banyan tree

That

Has

Made its home

In

Its native soil

Gone

Deep into the very heart

Of

The Earth,

Grown

Roots

All around

From

The air

To

The soil...

Spread

Its branches

Far and wide,

Giving,

Never

Asking...

Can

An old banyan tree

Be

Relocated

From

The soil

That

Has absorbed it

Through and through...

 

Heart Break

 

No.

This Pain

Will not mortally

Kill

Me

Like a cardiac arrest.

It

Will cripple me,

Tear

My emotions apart,

Sting

My thoughts,

Clip

The wings

Of

My fantasy,

And

Make me lose

My

Faith

In

You

And

Your love

Forever.

This

Heart ache

Will

Break

My heart

Into

A

Million

Unseen pieces

And

Leave

Me

Collecting them

To

Make

Myself

Whole again...

No

This

Pain

Will not mortally

Kill me,

It

Will

Cripple my belief

In

Love...

 

Cold Winter Days...

 

Although

The

Clock

Moves its pace,

My

Days

Are getting shorter

My

Nights,

Longer.

These

Bones

Have

Started singing,

Singing

A

Strange

Raucous

Song.

The

Leaves,

The

Flowers,

Are

Losing sheen,

Gentle breeze

That

Gently blows,

Is

Now,

Gusty wind...

My

Soul

On its Rocking chair

Seems

Resting...

Resting

Before

Its journey ends.

A

Journey

Long

Now

Awaits,

A journey,

Beyond

The Darkening

NITA B GEORGE: The poet, Nita B George, has been a Graduation level English teacher for 37 years. Poetry came late in her life, almost at the age of 54. Since then, she has been writing continuously and has to her credit three Anthologies of poems, 'Reflections', 'Confessions and Other Poems' and 'A Book Lover to his Darling and Other Poems'. She has a collection of short stories entitled 'Encounters' and her Memoir, 'A Speck in the Universe' also to her credit. The books have been published by Writers Workshop, Kolkata.
