ROUND THE WORLD

When a woman

Holds the pen

She doesn’t write

She just draws

Voiced smiles

On the face of a moon

Serene and bright

When a woman

Holds the pen

She embraces the words

From the remote

Corners of the world

Into her warm bosom

To melt into sentences

Where meanings love to

Come into being an’ blossom

When a woman

Holds the pen

She would give that

Ancient forbidden fruit

Yet, not to curse

Out of a paradise

Lost, stolen, or sold

Rather, to open our eyes

To explore the hidden

Territories of beauty untold.

RAPE AND REAP!

A thundering cry against women’s Rape

Come on!

What are you waiting for?

The slow deaf justice

Has given you the green light

To rape one, two and even more

Waiting for you

To rape a whole nation that

It is supposed

To be caring for.

Rewarding your satanic desires

You may go on and on

And, again … on

Yet, let me tell you one last word:

As you rape so will you reap

Yes, you will reap all shades

Of sufferings unbearable

In your body of a predator

In your heart of stone

In your soul dormant

To wake up to a day

Of no dawn, of no peace

Fallen off Eternity.

There’s nothing separating

Your rape from that reap

But a period of time,

Many or only some

Days, weeks, months,

Or even long years

And all, all will never stop

Your unspeakable reap

That will inevitably come.

MAYBE BUT SURELY

To a soulmate beyond place and time

Maybe

We have once met in the past

But surely

We will meet in the future

Maybe

Our life on earth will not last

But surely

We’ll live to rewrite the Scripture

Maybe

We are taken by desire an’ lust

But surely

We’ll make of man God’s best creature

For maybe

We were cast into moulds of dust

But surely

He can make of us a divine sculpture

Yes, maybe

We won’t get what we want so fast

But surely

Step by step we’ll walk the adventure

Maybe …

And MAYBE has never been a must

But SURELY

Is our hymn, language and culture.

GEORGE ONSY, an Egyptian thinker, poet and artist, born in Cairo, Dec 21, 1953, lives in Cairo where he serves as a professor of English at The Egyptian-Russian University and teaches History of Art & Architecture at other academies. His outstanding works of poetry and art have been published in many printed anthologies, magazines and websites worldwide, particularly in India, Italy, Sicily, USA, and China. He has been awarded at many international cultural festivals in Italy, Ghana, India, and Nigeria invited by world leading literary organizations. As an active writer for peace, THE WORLD INSTITUTE FOR PEACE (WIP), Nigeria awarded him with ‘THE GLOBAL ICON OF PEACE’ Award, April 2017 and recently ‘THE MOST OUTSTANDING PEACE POET IN THE WORLD FOR 2017’ Award. Also THE WORLD NATIONS WRITERS UNION (WNWU), Kazakhstan has awarded him THE BEST POET FOR 2017. His paintings of mystical themes have been exhibited in USA, Canada, UK, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Ghana, India, Lebanon and Egypt. George is one of the International Directors of the WORLD UNION OF POETS (WUP), and is their World Contest Jury Member as also for Galaktika Poetike (Atunis), Belgium-USA, the Italian International Cultural Organization, VERBUMLANDIART and the Mexican World Contest 2017 as well as for Kazakhstan’s Poetry Contest 2017. He is at present an active admin for over 65 city groups for the WUP and for the international PENTASI B WORLD FRIENDSHIP POETRY. He is also an honorary member/advisor for some leading international literary organizations, like Kazakhstan’s WNWU, India’s SAHITA ANAND, TELANGATA POETRY FORUM and PHILOSPHIQUE D’ANAND as well as Canada’s WRITERS INTERNATIONAL NETWORK (WIN). “VOICES FROM ETERNITY”, a joint book of Onsy’s poems and artworks with the great Indian thinker and poet Dr. J. Anand’s works, was published by the POETRY SOCIETY OF INDIA in 2014. His second book, “Let’s be one in The ONE” featuring 108 of his poems and artworks has been published in New Delhi, 2017 by the founder of the same society, Dr. Madan Gandhi, the great Indian Nobel-Prize Nominee thinker and poet. The latest was a uniquely creative work under a short story form, “WITH Oscar Wilde” published as an ebook on the international website BOOKEMON 2018. His ‘Mystic’ is to be published soon as an ebook through the international Flipcart. George diligently tries to establish new effective approaches to peacemaking, applying his unprecedented visual modelling system for analyzing Conflict-Resolution/Problem-Solving of heated issues. He is going to apply this system for conflict-resolution TOT workshops under the Nigerian Authorities. The leading Facebook Page, AWAKENING-صحوة he founded 7 years ago is an active Arab-International Forum to face critical issues and other ultimate world challenges. With his pen and brush, he calls for a holistic awareness of our ‘Eternal existence in the Here and Now’. It is ‘The Everlasting Poetry of Daily Living’ that has united audiences of different religions in Egypt and many countries round the world. He extends this peacemaking mission through his ongoing work as a Board Member at THE MORAL REARMAMENT ASSOCIATION/INTIATIVES OF CHANGE (MRA/IofC)-Egypt of which the head office is a UN and EU Consultant. Having worked for many years as a film/art critic as well as an Art Director for some leading AD Agencies, he has been serving as a Media Advisor and Analyzer for satellite TVs. He currently analyzes and builds up media campaigns for peace awareness-raising as well as designing needed creative educational systems.
