SCOTT THOMAS OUTLAR

SCOTT THOMAS OUTLAR

BLINKING BEFORE EXPANSION

There is enough
of this night sky
to pass around
on a silver platter
so all of us
can feast at once
and taste the truth
as chaos blooms
in revelry

I want to rip
the moon
out of its spin
and dance on earth
with its blood eclipse

I want to kiss
each star
with a silent scream
and swallow fire
from the light they sing

There are enough
beams in this world
to cast from our eyes
with a golden rod
so all the flames
can torch at once
those fears we thought
would lead us
into glory

I want to tear
God’s heart
from off its throne
and plant it here
so we’re never alone

I want to take
good aim
as it all goes dark
to heal the shadows
that have left their mark

UNLEARNED BALLOONS

No matter how full
of hot air
my consciousness
has become
at certain points
during this life
I’ve never been
so silly
as to believe
that I knew it all

though I will admit
there have been times
when I at least thought
I knew a little

but my mind
might as well
be one second old
at the moment
because all false perceptions
that have arisen
from the past
are starting to pop
left, right, and center

which is perfectly fine
because I’ve always been cool
with raking my ego
over the coals
when the future starts calling
with truth, love, and light

FLIP OF THE COIN

Whatever we find
in the spaces between

the hunger of yesterday
and the thirst of tomorrow

will either satiate
or consume us

today
