RAJASHREE MOHAPATRA

RAJASHREE MOHAPATRA

Mortal Clay

All body I am

Physical, earthy, mortal clay

Why do you tell me of things astral?

ethereal, laid out in the sky

To love and be loved,

to pine for and suffer,

to bear the pangs of love,

to burn in love's fire forever are

adornments I wear,

Don't call it sham,

Don't call it transitory,

useless glitter, it abounds in joy,

bountiful dear!

Don't turn away from me

for some love beyond love,

transcended and rare.

Smitten by love I know no other love,

it is now and here, not in heaven,

nowhere but in this body forever,

I have no wish to know

what redemption is,

nor do I care to know why love must be there

Allow me to wash the sin of redemption

written on your stone with my tear!

Love Under Desperation

She gives up her sense

of identity and individuality

And opts to dance to the tune of his flute

She is afraid

that the boat she sails in may rock

A fear hovers

that he might desert her for ever

She withholds her feelings and fears

Avoids doing anything

against his wills and desires

Under the canopy of luminosity

flows a stream of hope

She waits in despair

as to how long the wick in the lamp would burn, with the little resource

She can hear

light and darkness exchange their views

On love and desire

But how long .......

Rajashree Mohapatra

Unscreened Folds

If it were a paper boat ...

Might not be destined to flow

If it were cursed ...

Might not live to last long

If it were the envy of unknown Gods ...

Might have melted in the magma chamber

And might have lost for ever

But it’s our love that is never lost

And moreover

It's wings can beat the air

like Jonathan seagull

Undauntingly

Life has many a folds

Some remain unscreened and untold

And life glitters like gold

Verses can't explain it all

Words fall short

In the silent valley of hearts

although a river overflows.

You have said once

Stories are trivialities

But life alone is tranquil and beautiful.
