ASHOK T CHAKRAVARTHY

ASHOK T CHAKRAVARTHY

THE CYCLE OF PASSING LIFE

What we think inwardly
What we look outwardly
Our inner self is well aware
Of our frequent changing colors.

Year after year advances fast
Phases of life roll into the past;
Childhood and youthful glory
In no time melt into deep memory.

Mid-age, the age of illumination
Slowly unfolds the veil of illusions,
The volume of mirror reflections
Reel before eyes in a fit of emotion.

The cycle of passing life’s seasons
Cannot halt, whatever be the reason;
The accumulated merits and demerits
Pester us in the self-realization pursuit.

Know; love for our dear and near ones
Keep us away from the goal of realization;
Try to shun the egoistic self out-rightly,
To attain highest bliss; beautiful eternally.

YES, POETRY CAN
(A poem for WORLD POETRY DAY 2018)

Yes, poetry can uphold the human ideals
Can project the ills of social fragmentation
Can oust the recurring segments of violence
Can repulse the blurred borders of hatred
Can enlighten the plight of the downtrodden
Can spread the threat of ecological erosion
Can explore the violation of children’s rights
Can expose the dangers of growing illiteracy
Can strengthen the pillars of peace process
Can extend the arms of love and concern
Can nurse the wounds of distress and distrust
Can pave a way to repose faith on co-humans
Can dispel darkness from the sucked dark lives.

Yes, Humans, neither have wings to fly high
Nor have a vision to look beyond the sky;
Yet, with a true sense of righteousness
If poets campaign poetry with astuteness;
Everywhere, everything becomes beautiful;
The radiance of peace shall spread bountiful.
In the womb of time a new poetic era unfurls
The present and future shall be peaceful
The beehive of memories shall stay eternal.

REALITY OF LIFE

The very moment a life peeps out
With a ‘cry’ it announces its protest;
Every moment it tries to contest
To fulfill its desires of survival quest.

From the infancy stage of growth
Mother obliges with love-warmth,
The sooner childhood takes its root
Desires creep into the little heart.

Yes, desires are tough, get stronger
One after other, they change colors;
Their inward strength is enormous
Even mar, bright prospects of future.

Every human, knowingly or unknowingly
Suffer the ordeal, intently or innocently;
Once maturity sneaks in, speck by speck
Reality of life peeps out from the dark.

Enlightened, righteousness rules the heart,
Against evil, violence, injustice; it protests;
Promoting eternal peace and eternal elation
It mingles with joy and sweet harmony reigns.
