SIMONE MAGLI
Eclogues /
Bucoliche
1
Before evening
falls,
from thick leas,
fireflies
rise up to the
sky
to engrave the stars.
Prima che scenda la sera,
dai folti prati, le lucciole
salgono al cielo,
per incidere le
stelle.
2
The cicada sings
the country,
a little girl
grows up,
she looks for
syllables in the heat.
What an
illiterate I am.
La cicala canta la campagna,
una bimba cresce,
cerca sillabe nell’afa.
Il vero analfabeta sono io.
3
Let everything
come
like a sprouting blade
of grass
in the field
lapped
by the fairest
cloud.
Che ogni cosa venga
come spunta un filo d’erba
sul campo baciato
dalla nuvola più
bella.
