ANIL KUMAR PANDA

Part Of My Soul

Part of my soul

Has not grown up

It still lives there where

Over the land the clouds stop

To pour cool rain

And I play in the puddle

With the naked feet run down

The muddy path to the school

Part of my soul

Forgets to be an adult

It roams the fields of the village

Singing and dancing in joy a lot

To be with folks who

Sow seeds and grow crops

To sit with grandpa in the shade

Where the sun winks from tree tops

Part of my soul will

Remain as a child to stay

On the lap of my grandma and

Learn to love our folks and pray

A Country Boy

The wind finds me in the valley

Chasing birds flying away to the sky

It lifts tufts of my hair and whistles

As I run after the clouds flying high

The butterflies find me in the bush

Hiding from the running squirrels

They sit upon my head and shoulders

As I run fast shouting across the dales

And the flowers chase me towards

The water to fall on sands and smile

A boy of ten with heart full of joy

Along with the wind I can run for miles

I wish I could live this life forever

Not growing old to remain busy

Life of a country boy is full of fun

No worries for work it’s carelessly easy

When I Was A Child

When I was a child

I heard him telling prayers

Into my ears

I loved to be kissed by him

Million times when he lifted

Me from the bed in the morn

When I was a child

I loved to walk down

The village streets with

My tiny feet bathed in dusts

Holding his finger with my soft grip

He gathered me into his hold

As if I was a bundle of wool

And tickled me with his sparse beards

At my naked belly

I held his wrinkled face

To my lips and kissed back

For he was my bagful of joy

My grandfather
