ELIZA SEGIET
Saddle-Cloth
Yesterday I was
in Lodz with my friends
- today I know
that only in
dreams I can meet them.
Yesterday I
dreamed of factories
- today I know
that they sew German uniforms.
Yesterday I drove
a cab
- today I know
I must be stronger
than the horse
that pulled it.
Yesterday I slept
in starched
bedding
- today
my wooden cot is
covered with saddle-cloth.
Yesterday was a
phantasm
- today
only the belief
that in people
will remain
something of a Human.
Derka
Wczoraj byłem w
Łodzi u przyjaciół
- dzisiaj wiem,
że tylko we śnie
można ich spotkać.
Wczoraj śniłem o
fabrykach,
- dzisiaj wiem,
że tam szyją
niemieckie mundury.
Wczoraj jechałem
dorożką
- dzisiaj wiem,
że muszę być
silniejszy
od konia, który
ją ciągnął.
Wczoraj spałem
w wykrochmalonej
pościeli
- dzisiaj
moja prycza jest
przykryta derką.
Wczoraj to była
mara,
- dzisiaj
już tylko wiara,
że w ludziach
pozostanie coś z
Człowieka.
Perfect
Too pale for the
rays,
perfect for a
shot,
roamed through
the canals
German-sensitive,
marked by war
Jewish children.
They prayed:
Ange lof God My guardian
dear
To Whom His love Commits
me here.
They whispered to
him.
They knew
that no one else
would hear
the words
pleading for survival.
Mama and dada
drove off by
train,
for work, they
said.
When will they
return, our Angel? They asked.
The answer was
silence,
interrupted by
shots from rifles.
Idealni
Zbyt blade na
promienie,
idealne do
strzału,
błądziły kanałami
niemieckoczułe,
naznaczone wojną
żydowskie dzieci.
Modliły się:
AnieleBożyStróżumój
tyzawszeprzymniestój.
Szeptały do
niego.
Wiedziały,
że nikt inny już
nie usłyszy
błagalnych słów o
przetrwanie.
Mame i tate
odjechali
pociągiem,
powiedzieli, że
do pracy.
Kiedy wrócą, nasz
Aniele? Pytały.
Odpowiedzią była
cisza,
przerywana
wystrzałami z karabinów.
Vortex
Drawn into the
vortex of hatred,
we try to
understand
why the world is
changing.
Every day,
some war takes
away someone's tomorrow.
In the morning he
said:
Whoever we are,
it is good to be
able
to be a joy for
others.
We will not live
again.
We will try
to exist despite
their will.
In the evening he
stopped talking,
they silenced
him!
Wir
Wciągnięci w wir
nienawiści
próbujemy
zrozumieć,
dlaczego świat tak
się zmienia.
Każdego dnia,
jakaś wojna komuś
zabiera jutro.
Rano powiedział:
Kimkolwiek
jesteśmy,
dobrze jest móc
być radością dla
innych.
Życia nie
powtórzymy.
Będziemy próbować
istnieć mimo ich
woli.
Wieczorem
przestał mówić,
uciszyli go!
