ALICJA
WOJDYŁO
1.
I open my hands
to which
the rain drips -
your thoughts
and it soaks in
to the skin
and it combines
with blood
until eventually
your thoughts
become mine
and still I raise
my hands to the sky
and ask for more
***
otwieram dłonie
do których
skapuje deszcz -
twoje myśli
i wchłania się
w skórę
i miesza się
z krwią
aż w końcu twoje myśli
stają się moimi
i wciąż podnoszę w niebo dłonie
i proszę o więcej
2.
hide the sun in
your hands
and throw it on
the grass
it will warm
against the cold of the night
and reveal the
faces of trees
tired
catch the ruddy
Moon
and return it back
to water
it will invigorate
before travel
and give strength
to the psyche
sore
And the stars will
be
lanterns
in the hands of
wanderers
concerned
***
ukryj Słońce w dłoniach
i rzuć je na trawę
ogrzeje przed
chłodem nocy
i ukaże twarze drzew
zmęczone
schwytaj Księżyc rumiany
i oddaj go wodzie
orzeźwi na wędrówkę
i doda sił
psychice
obolałej
Gwiazdy zaś będą
świecznikami
w rękach wędrowców
zatroskanych
3.
the butterfly
perched on the shoulder
of the boy
autism also allows
to see
beauty
***
motyl przysiadł na
ramieniu
chłopca
autyzm też pozwala dostrzec
piękno

ALICJA WOJDYŁO: – graduated in sociology from the Catholic
University of Lublin, formerly participated in the Literary Workshops 'Wers',
currently active in the Literary Association 'Witryna'. She draws creative
inspiration from her surroundings and her interests, which include film,
literature and experiencing various cultures, both contemporary and historical,
especially the Slavic, East Indian, Finnish and Asian cultures. She claims that
it is difficult to enclose such cultural inspirations in poetry, so it is best
while reading to experience them as well through listening to music or watching
a film. Also, she is an enthusiast of coffee, Mickiewicz's poetry and music
from around the world.
