The Syllabic Gaze

The first word is the gaze

Without endings or false goals

It sinks its root into the eyes

where does a dumb alphabet sprout

Yesterday all the vowels were white

They left to consonants the task

Of uniting them with a thin red thread

Before budding into a song

Lo sguardo sillabico

La prima parola è lo sguardo

senza desinenze o falsi traguardi

affonda la radice negli occhi

dove germoglia un alfabeto muto

Ieri tutte le vocali erano bianche

lasciavano alle consonanti il compito

di unirle con un sottile filo rosso

prima di gemmare in canto

Nakedness Of An Embrace

When the gaze brings the eyes closer to its dictation

 lips are clothed in new words

a gasp in the air trembles - the flesh

uncovers the nakedness

Of those who in silence embrace the distance

Between the impregnable contact and the abandonment

which in filigree is unraveled

Nudità di un abbraccio

Quando lo sguardo avvicina gli occhi al suo dettato

le labbra si vestono di parole nuove

un sussulto nell’aria tremula la sua carne

scopre la nudità

di chi in silenzio abbraccia la distanza

tra l’imprendibile contatto e l’abbandono

che in filigrana si sgrana

GIANCARLO STOCCORO (Italy) is a psychiatrist and psychotherapist. A scholar of Georg Groddeck, he has edited the Italian edition of his biography (Georg Groddeck Una Vita, W. Martynkewicz, Il Saggiatore, 2005) and other essays (Pierino Porcospino and the Wild Analyst, ADV, “Poets and prose writers in the court of the court”; AnimaMundi, 2017). His is the first book to explore the cinema associated with Social Dreaming (Eyes of the Dream,2012). He has won several poetry awards and is featured in numerous anthologies.
